Signagelive V2.5.0.1 Product Update released

Further to our recent release of Signagelive version 2.5 a few weeks ago, we are now pleased to announce the release of version 2.5.0.1 with the major changes summarised below:

Recurrence
When deploying content the user is now able to select simple recurrence rules for the deployment of playlists or layouts. The user can select the days and the times they would like a playlist/layout to reoccur within the period they have deployed it. For example, if you have a weekly fire alarm test at 11.00am on Tuesday mornings you can deploy a recurring playlist reminding staff and notifying visitors of the planned test.

Screen Control (simple and rs232)
It is now possible to schedule the screen to come on and be switched off at user defined times. The schedule defines the period that the screen is on. Signagelive will automatically detect at each content update whether the screen is supposed to be on or off and send the appropriate command. We currently support two types of screen control interface; Simple and RS232 as explained below.

RS232 Control

  • Simple uses the built in Power Saving functionality within windows. It is recommended that the user checks this works with their player and screen hardware before deploying to their network. In some instances older monitors may not respond to the wake command, thus leaving the screen off.
  • RS232 sends the relevant RS232 command to the screen, of course this relies on the user knowing the commands beforehand – this will be available from the screen manufacturer.

Escape characters in URL’s
These can be used when requesting content from third party content providers and used in part of their authentication process. We can expand the use of this feature to allow delivery of localised content, such as weather, traffic etc using a generic URL which then retrieves data from the server.
