Micro-P partners with Signagelive to deliver Samsung Smart Signage cloud-based digital signage solution in the UK and Ireland

Signagelive’s portfolio of vertical-specific applications provides AV and IT resellers with the first true plug-and-play digital signage solution

Signagelive, a global technology company that specialises in developing cloud-based digital signage applications, is pleased to announce that Micro-P, a leading B2B and retail technology distributor in the UK and a major Samsung distributor, has confirmed its partnership with Signagelive.

Micro-P will be using Signagelive’s library of ready to use applications developed specifically for Samsung’s Smart Signage Platform to offer competitive, all inclusive digital signage packages to its AV and IT channel partner and reseller network in the UK and Ireland.

Samsung Smart Signage Displays incorporate System on Chip (SoC) technology, eliminating the need for a separate PC to deliver a digital signage solution. By removing a separate PC, the cost of purchase, installation, maintenance and power for digital signage has been radically reduced, with overall costs at up to 50% cheaper than alternative digital signage solutions.

Micro-P is a wholly owned subsidiary of parent company DCC Plc, the 6th largest company in Ireland.  It represents over 180 manufacturers in the UK alone spanning more than 22,000 products across computing and accessories, print, consumer electronics, networking, servers and solutions, communications and mobile and AV solutions. World class partner brands include Acer, Huawei, Samsung, Sony, Toshiba, Nokia, Western Digital, SonicWall and Netgear.

Micro-P’s market-leading approach, teamed with a state-of-the-art distribution centre, next day delivery and a host of managed services, including end-user fulfilment, assures its clients the highest levels of customer service and satisfaction at all times.

Signagelive is the only company to date that has developed a commercial offering for Samsung’s next-generation Smart Signage Platform and as such, all Samsung Smart Signage Displays, irrespective of size, have been configured to support Signagelive software as standard.

No technical expertise is required, enabling commercial organisations to seamlessly integrate digital signage technology with existing marketing activities and run engaging, interactive campaigns at the push of a button. Content can be managed and updated centrally, locally or remotely via different devices including Smartphones, Tablets, or screen remote control units.

Targeted content such as special promotions, HR information or nutritional facts can be quickly displayed on different screen sizes, depending on business type, location, target audience and so forth.  Furthermore content can be scheduled to dynamically update depending on factors such as time of day and/or updates to external data sources.

Signagelive’s core management software is written in HTML5, the new standard for cross-platform online applications. It eliminates the need for onsite media players and provides full support for different content formats including rolling images, nested playlists, video streaming, IPTV and Media RSS feeds. It also comprises innovative features such as drag and drop functionality, QR code support and management integration for widgets such as Twitter or Yahoo Finance.

Says Jason Cremins, CEO of Signagelive; “ The appointment of Micro-P as a distributor of our Samsung Smart Signage offering ensures that anywhere a reseller can purchase a Samsung Smart Display in the UK, they can also purchase our Signagelive software licence.

Our support for Samsung Smart Signage Displays and newly developed library of templated applications will give AV and IT resellers the opportunity to easily add digital signage to their existing product portfolios and benefit from the high margin opportunities this rapidly growing market sector is creating.”

Ian Aitken, General Manager, Visual Business Unit, Micro-P, added: “Micro-P’s sales of signage screens and public display products has doubled over the last year. Micro-P is now the leading UK distributor of such products from Samsung, NEC and LG. Now seems like a great time to increase our portfolio of attach products that accompany and bring the most out of these products. Signagelive unlocks affordable messaging solutions across a range of industries and applications. We see Signagelive as an important new partner that will improve the range and quality of product we can offer to the signage market.”

Signagelive has recently been selected by Samsung as a key partner to support its Smart Signage Platform. Formal collaboration between both companies was announced in January a press conference in Amsterdam.
