Signagelive Approved Players

We did a Release, but the Clients don’t support everything….why?

On the 5th May we did a major release to the Signagelive platform, but you may have realised, not everything we added is supported currently by all of our supported Clients.

Why is this?

The main reason is to aid in support and management of the release. We were aware that the platform changes were potentially going to raise a lot of support queries, the change in style, and the new technologies. The new Dashboard was a major upgrade and a huge seed change in the information available directly to you our Users.

With that in mind, we decided that it was best not to roll out updates to all of our own Client versions at the same time, we didn’t want to add confusion to changes and mislead you and us about the origin of any potential issues.

We try our hardest but unfortunately there will always be a few teething issues around a release and we are always improving our processes to limit these.

So now the release has settled, we are ready to release Client upgrades

  • Enhanced SMIL – there is no need for a Client update, these already support the full functionality.
  • LG WebOS, ChromeOS and Samsung SSP – We will roll out the update on Monday 1st June 2015 and all of your players will automatically update, no need for you to do anything
  • PC – Get in touch with our support team (support@signagelive.com or through Live Chat) and we will help you with this, there may need to be some additional Player configuration.

These updates are needed to support the following functionality:

Scheduled Reboots

You may have noticed that the Reboots section within the Player Manager has changed, we’ve added the ability to choose a specific time for your Player to reboot, or an immediate reboot after the next Content Check.

playerreboots

You can also set this up for all of your Players in your Network, from the Global Network Settings dialog in the Network Manager.

Proof of Play

The Proof of Play BETA has been running for a couple of weeks now, and we are getting some great feedback, to support the BETA we have had to add the support to the Clients, and the BETA users have been using these versions alongside the live client versions.

We are sending more information to the clients so that they know what to log and when to log it, and we are uploading this data to a new end point (playerdataapi.signagelive.com / smilplayerdataapi.signagelive.com)
